Where You Always Were

Jay didn't come to faith through a sermon. He came to it through fourteen years in the Army, through years of drugs and violence, and through weekends spent bouncing at biker bars alongside outlaw motorcycle clubs—the Hell's Angels, Brother Speed, the Gypsy Jokers. He was a combat veteran carrying PTSD and depression home long before he ever set foot in a church as an adult.

When a divine encounter finally pulled him through the doors, he found a religion that couldn't survive his questions—so he spent nearly two decades tearing his theology down and rebuilding it from the ground up, in seminary classrooms and in the dark nights of his own soul. That search eventually led him to pastor a local church, where he found a congregation full of people just like him: exhausted by religion, and starving for something real.

Where You Always Were is Jay's first book—a theology forged not in academia, but in the wreckage he lived through and helped cause. He is currently writing and speaking, and plans to launch a new church gathering this fall.
